Think about everything you know about World War II--the murder of millions of innocent people, the death camps, the horrifying stories told by survivors. The Holocaust should be a lesson to us all, but sadly, many people in the world today hardly ever think of this nightmare. It is a lesson that was learned the hard way, but so many people have forgotten it. How much harder will it be to learn next time? Well, first off, the next time may be a lot sooner than you think.
The "180" movie, a 33 minute video found on youtube, presents to us a modern problem: abortion. At the beginning of this movie, it delves into the tragic history of the Holocaust, and very soon after, it begins to make connections with the abortion. Over 38 million people died in the World War II (1939-1945); today, there are about 42 million babies aborted each year. Hitler killed the Jews and other groups of people because he thought they were not equal in society. He thought that they were keeping society from reaching its full potential. He thought that their life was not worth as much as someone else's, so he ended their life. He led them to the camps, the majority not really knowing what was going to happen there, and let them suffer; they were defenseless against him. These children who are being aborted are unwanted for a multitude of reasons, their parents may think they will not have a good life as a result of a disease, they may have been unplanned, etc. They are not old enough yet to speak, cry, or put up any form of protest. They, too, are defenseless against us. They are in their mother's womb, the safest place possible, and then they are ripped away from that haven, without any choice. If Hitler's genocide of innocent people in the Holocaust is considered horribly wrong in every way, how can millions of mothers murdering their child, the murder of millions of children, be right?
If you haven't seen this video, you should watch it as soon as you get the chance. It is truly an eye-opener (not only to abortion but also to the fact that many people are unknowledgeable about subjects such as the Holocaust!) and it gives you a whole new perspective in which you can look at abortion. http://180movie.com/ If you have seen this video, I hope you were able to get just as much out of it as I did.
It is a poverty to decide that a child must die so that you may live as you wish. - Mother Teresa
